On the third day of my holiday in Greece, the sun finally came out. Up until that point I’d been huddled up in a cardigan and shorts, freezing to death because I hadn’t thought to pack anything warm enough for wintery weather. But then, when the sun finally woke me up by shining through the gap in my curtains, I knew it was finally the day to wear something nice.

And so I quickly roused my sister and got ready. Where we were going, I hadn’t yet decided, but we would definitely be going somewhere. We would also definitely be swimming. I couldn’t last another day on holiday without actually taking a swim outside. After taking a quick look in the Crete guidebook, we decided to visit a freshwater lake about ten minutes down the road from the villa.

There you go, I’ve finally plucked up the courage to post a picture of myself on my blog. Let me know in the comments below what you think of my outfit and be sure to check in soon to see my next post. I love you all for continuing to view my blog each day.

The leaves are falling – November Purchases

IMG_0299.JPG

I’m going to let you into the world of Emily’s purchases. I’ve not actually contained all of the things I bought this month in this post because there’s a lot (I was going back to college so I had an excuse!). But the pictures show some of my favourites.

First we have my Amazon purchases of the month. As you’ll probably come to learn, Amazon is my go-to place for books and DVDs. It’s super cheap, you hardly ever have to pay delivery, and who doesn’t want books delivered in the post?! It’s like Christmas has come early every time I open the parcels.
104 Things to Photograph is my kind of project for over this year. As its my last year in college – and next year I’ll be off to uni – I want to make some memories and I hope I’ll be inspired by some of the things in there. The second thing is Her Dark Curiosity, and that’s a sequel to this really great book called The Madman’s Daughter. It’s set in the past, and it’s everything a book needs to be; a mystery on an island, a beautiful romance, and a dangerous pursuit. I would definitely recommend! Finally, we have The Rehearsal, and to be honest, I don’t really have a clue what it’s about. One of my friends recommended it so I said I’d give it a go. I’ll let you know how it went.

In terms of fashion, I’ve been a little bit obsessed with Next this month. Now, when I say obsessed… almost all of the clothes you see below are from there…

1 – This Black Playsuit is – yes, you guessed it – from Next. It’s a really nice fit and looks gorgeous with the silver Ted Baker belt and some heels I had bought for me for prom. I’ve bought it for my 18th; it’s comfortable, looks pretty good, and won’t fly up in the wind after I’ve had too much to drink!

2 – I’ve bought the Black and White Jumper, again from Next, as you can never have too much knitwear for cold Autumn days. It’s cosy without being too heavy and it looks really great with jeans or tucked into a skirt. The necklace I put with it is actually about three years old, but places like Topshop have got some that are really similar.

3 – This Red Lace Top (cough, Next again, cough) is my guilty pleasure of a purchase this month. I just couldn’t resist. It goes really well with any trousers and the lace feels really good quality. The Black and White Trousers are from Dorothy Perkins and were a bit of a risky buy – I don’t usually wear printed trousers because I HATE my legs – but I actually really like them. Paired with loafers and a thick coat, this outfit if perfect for a nippy Autumn day.

Thanks to everyone reading my blog! If you’d like to see more then please click to follow it and leave a comment below. What are your favourite buys this month? Any good new books out?

Abbey life

Summer 2014 046

I’ve always loved going to see ruins of places; castles, abbeys, roman ruins. Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire has got to be one of my favourites; with its water gardens and beautiful lake, you can take a leisurely stroll along on a warm and sunny day. Even after a good few hours, when you’ve seen all of the ruins, the cafe is there to beckon you in with a delicious handmade ice cream or pot of steaming tea. Definitely one of the best days I’ve had in a while!

The picture below is of my sister, modelling one of my favourite skirts – yes, MY skirt, as she stole it that morning. But that’s sisters for you! I know, I know, you’re wondering when a picture of me will miraculously appear, but I will honestly post one soon… when I finally find one of myself that I actually like…

But for now I will leave you with some pretty pictures taken by moi! Comment below if you can recommend any other good ruins or castles to visit. Or even a cute little tea shop somewhere.

Rain rain go away…

Emily Window and portrait 002P1030006

As you can probably guess from the title of this post, I don’t like rain. I’m not sure that anyone does… unless they can stay indoors, wrapped up, without the threat of being sent outside. But that doesn’t happen much. No. Whenever it rains, my fate seems to have me needing to go out into it and get absolutely soaked. Typical! So what do I do when it rains?

Shop!!!!!!

I have literally been sitting here for the last few weeks, doing UCAS applications whilst ordering some kind of clothing from one shop or another. I’ve also been really ill over the last couple of days so I’ve been on the sofa, scrolling through the iPad apps and once again ordering clothes. The thing is, when I order things, unless it’s free delivery, I tend to have it delivered to the shop (because who wants to pay £4 every time you order something?!). And of course, that means I have to go outside…

… into the rain.

So now, I’m about to head outside to pick up some Next clothes and it’s absolutely tipping it down. All in the love of clothes… Wish me luck! And let me know in the comments below what you guys will be ordering this Autumn? Jumpers, hats, scarves, or maybe even bikinis for a Christmas getaway?!

P.S. On another note, the picture is a picture of Pippa, sad because it’s raining.
